On a more serious note, since it’s Records and Information Management Month, I would like to point out that what we believe at DSI/ITI is that only two or three types of information are shared between an RMS and JMS and that is the Master Name Index and Warrants. You gain more functionality when the JMS (OMS) is integrated with the inmate phone platform such as automated sick call requests, commissary by phone and anti-fraud features. Remember that the first human need in Maslow's theory of “Hierarchy of Needs” is survival. To many inmates, getting the commissary is a survival need. Another feature with OMS/OCS integration is DSI’s Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) Hotline, which is a useful tool to combat prison rapes.
