“I’m getting really tired of hearing the term “All hands on deck”. First of all it’s really not a true term, from what I know of the Navy. Not all crew members could be on deck, especially in today’s U.S. Navy, since most of the weapons systems are automated and don’t require crew members to load ammunition or to manually aim the weapons. It is really meant that all available sailors (hands) on deck since many of the crew need to stay below deck to service the engines and other systems to keep the ship running. Plus the fact that about only two percent of the country has every served in the military and only about half of those served in the Navy I really don’t think they have a clue of “all hands on deck” even means.”
