I just wanted to take a moment to expand on a comment that was posted on my last blog post.

A question was asked about receiving refunds from Inmate Telephone in an easier manner than having to call in and speak with a live operator. We at DSI/ITI understand the importance of allowing families and friends to communicate with incarcerated loved ones and continually strive to find ways to make the process quicker and easier.

Starting June 4th, ITI customers will be able to open an account 24 hours a day, 7 days a week via ITI Billpay. This is in addition to the normal features already available such as adding money to your account and viewing account statements. If you have already established an account with ITI, we also offer an automated phone system to make a payment and check your balance that is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week as well.

Sending money to incarcerated loved ones is also something that can be accomplished 24 hours a day, 7 days a week via InmateBanker. Payments can be posted within minutes to an inmates account, subject to facility regulations.

The ultimate goal is to make communicating with your loved ones convenient and simple. We understand that your time is valuable and we want to minimize how long you spend talking to our live operators and let you spend that time communicating with your loved ones.

We continue to work on new enhancements to our existing services to reach this goal and welcome any future suggestions.

We at DSI/ITI strive to keep calling rates low. The majority of the funds that do come in through families calling inmates goes back to the facility's inmate welfare fund that provides money to pay for inmate programs, supplies and other essential items that the facility otherwise would have to do without.

DSI / ITI continues to investigate and strive to provide alternate and possibly cheaper methods of communication for inmates and their families in the future.
